How can population growth be controlled?
To control population growth you need various steps, because if it continues this is what will happen.
Where there is limited land and fast-growing populations the result will be less food feeding. Governments then can afford it so then they compensate by importing grain, the source of more than half the calories humans consume directly. But in countries that cannot import grain, people go hungry.
But many people dont see that.
Human population should be stabilized at about 2 billion people--about a third of the present population size, but it has to be done in a way which avoids coercive policies and it's going to take a very long time.
If you take a look at the human numbers now, we've got a higher global income level than we've ever had before, despite the persistence of huge poverty in lots of places. If you take a look at natural resource use, it's much more intensive today than ever before. Human numbers and human affluence place tremendous resource demands on the earth, but if you take a look at things like prices of natural resources, they've been declining for a century.
